The PROTECT Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Expert requires an Arabic-speaking intern to support the roll-out of MHPSS activities from February 2024 to September 2024.

The support is anticipated to be half-time/full-time and will be a remote position. Closing date for applications is Monday 26th February 2024.

What you'll be doing:

  • Conducting rolling desk-based research into MHPSS activities in Yemen, including monitoring activities of the MHPSS Working Group and its key actors, and researching Government of Yemen (GoY) MHPSS-related service offerings at different health facilities and in different governorates.
  • Supporting reviewing of applications from Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)/ Community Based Organisations (CBOs) who have expressed interest in and submitted applications to participate in the PROTECT program. Note that some or all of these applications may be in Arabic.
  • Supporting conducting of screening interviews and capacity assessment interviews with CSOs/CBOs. Note that some or all of these interviews may be in Arabic.
  • Supporting assessing administrative and technical capacities of CSOs/CBOs.
  • Supporting CSOs/CBOs to fully understand PROTECT compliance requirements.
  • Supporting development of MHPSS training materials and guidelines in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, including translating elements of the materials into Arabic.
  • Translating project materials to or from Arabic and English.
  • Participating in project meetings relating to the tasks identified above.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Be fluent English and formal Arabic (written and spoken).
  • Have advanced IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Have completed/be studying at an advanced level a related subject (Psychology, social sciences, medicine, health, international development, etc.).
  • Have a keen interest in international development.
