Job Description

The WASH Assistant will assist in ensuring the quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of HP activities being implemented by PIN. Specifically, the main activities include hygiene item distribution, nutrition awareness sessions, screening of malnutrition cases, provision of hygiene information and education, monitoring construction of latrines, installation of water points, well rehabilitation and water storage, and facilitating community education on water purification methods.


Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation of baseline and KABP/KOBO surveys and other data collection activities.

Support the HP Officer in adapting hygiene promotion packages for households, schoolteachers, and students.

Organize and implement training for school teachers/Community Health Volunteers.

Support the roll-out of hygiene promotion to students and households.

Support the HP Officer in adapting hygiene promotion packages for communities, with a range of topics including water safety, water storage, water treatment, food use and hygiene, and IYCF practices.

Provide hygiene promotion to communities adapted to the specific needs of men, women, boys, and girls.

Maintain links with Community Health Volunteers to ensure close coordination in order to carry out hygiene promotion activities among target groups.

Liaise closely with local representatives of the Ministry of Education, Health, and GARWSP, father’s councils at schools, health committees, Food Management Committees (FMCs), and Community Water Management Committees (CWMCs).

Train Community Health Volunteers on MUAC screening, CMAM, and nutrition and hygiene reporting, to enable them to effectively deliver key messages in a manner that is easy for communities to retain the knowledge and adopt the best practices shared.

Representing the PIN WASH Team, work closely with Health and Nutrition Treatment Teams to ensure that nutrition messages are integrated into all health facilities and outreach activities.

Collect monthly data and activity reports and ensure proper filing of all project-related documentation.

Prepare regular reports and progress updates.

Undertake other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree or equivalent;
  • At least 1 year of direct experience in WASH projects;
  • Good skills and experience with MS Office and internet usage;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Living in or from targeted governorates;
  • Able to make strong relations with community and key stakeholders;
  • Ethical, trustworthy, creative, dynamic, and enthusiastic;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
  • INGO experience preferred.
