Job Description

General responsibilities of the wash assist include support the quality of WASH planning, in site implementation and follow up of all technical activities being implemented by PIN. Specifically, the main activities include working on supervising construction of latrines, installation of water points, well rehabilitation and water storage.

Responsibilities

Work with local government institutions, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and local communities to ensure the efficient execution of water and sanitation infrastructure activities.

Participate in baseline assessments of community water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure, including at schools, health facilities, and public water points.

Support the WASH Engineer to conduct technical assessments of selected WASH infrastructure identified for rehabilitation.

Assist the WASH Engineer in preparing construction monitoring mechanisms, and subsequently supervising contracted works to ensure compliance with technical requirements and schedules.

Support the HP Officer in adapting hygiene promotion packages for households, schoolteachers, and students.

Organize and implement training for school teachers/Community Health Volunteers.

Support the roll-out of hygiene promotion to students and households.

Monitor ongoing projects and prepare for handover of completed works to communities and local authorities.

Facilitate water-testing activities to ensure water quality improvements and sustainability over time.

Coordinate and follow up with communities and local authorities on water treatment for targeted water sources.

Liaise with Community Water Management Committees (CWMCs) in areas where WASH infrastructure is being rehabilitated to help ensure local ownership and assist in developing sustainable mechanisms for operations and maintenance.

Ensure compliance with World Health Organization (WHO) standards, PIN policies and procedures, and other best practices in WASH, while maintaining culturally literate and sensitive approaches.

Collect monthly data and activity reports and ensure proper filing of all project-related documentation.

Prepare regular reports and progress updates.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree or equivalent;
  • At least 1 year of direct experience in WASH projects;
  • Good skills and experience with MS Office and internet usage;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Living in or from targeted governorates;
  • Able to make strong relations with community and key stakeholders;
  • Ethical, trustworthy, creative, dynamic, and enthusiastic;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • INGO experience preferred.
